Printer supports direct text printing with the 'us-ascii' charset.
Comments
600 dpi in colour is not supported by the hardware.
To get all functionality of this printer working under Linux, especially also the non-printing features, like scanning, printer status, maintenance, and photo download from memory cards, use the HPLIP driver package from HP.
Stand-alone copying works only for black-and-white copies. Color copying can only be done by software, under free operating systems preferrably with "xsane". Note that this is very slow due to the necessity of downloading the whole image to the PC and converting it to PostScript and back to a bitmap.
Faxing from and to the PC is not supported.
You can clean the printer's nozzles via the front panel menues, but you cannot align the heads this way.

Installs and prints postscript and ascii in b/w or colour under printtool and printerdrake, drivers: most PCL ones, HPLIP from HP is the best choice.
