Comments

For basic printing functionality use the HPIJS driver . For advanced functionality such as printer status and maintenance features, use the HPLIP driver (which includes HPIJS).

This printer works fine if it has 2+ MB of RAM, otherwise it only prints half a page at a time. It only has 384kB by default. It can be upgraded easily and cheaply.

Noticed Difficulities w/ sending to a Win2k SMB Share from Linux for the HPLJII.

Experience from a user:

ASCII comes out fine.

- send eof after job (yes)

- Fix stair stepping (yes)

Using ghostscript and HP Laserjet driver, pages are shifted up a little (1/8 inch).

- experimentation with margins does not seem to help

Sending windows jobs via samba works excellent!
