hl-1030 works with ghostsript using the driver hl1240 (include in the hl1250). It prints text postscript ok, but due to it 2 mb only memory, it has problems with complex ps.
Brother publishes proprietary Linux drivers for CUPS and LPD for most of their laser printers and multi-function devices, including SANE drivers for the scanners. They can be downloaded free of charge on their Linux driver page.
