| Color inkjet printer, max. 2400x1200 dpi, works Mostly | ![]() ![]() |
| Recommended driver: hplip (Home page) Generic instructions for: CUPS, LPD, LPRng, PPR, PDQ, no spooler | |
Multi-function device: Printer, scanner, copier, fax. Standard model and "xi" model have different fax page memory sizes and zoom factor ranges for copying.
To get all functionality of this printer working under Linux, especially also the non-printing features, like scanning, printer status, maintenance, and photo download from memory cards, use the HPLIP driver package from HP.
The best output one gets with HP's HPIJS 1.3 or newer. If you cannot update to HPIJS 1.3 for some reason, you can also use HPIJS 1.2.2 with the patches from Matthias Bunte and Richard Spencer-Smith ("hpijs-rss"). The Gimp-Print driver also works (Model setting: "pcl-900"), but only up to 600 dpi.
Consumables/Refills: 2 cartridges (1 black, 1 color)
i have a hp officejet 5610 and need software to allow it to run. You forgot the date on your request. I also have the officejet 5610, under OpenSuse 11.2 it runs completely and fully (including fax and scan) "out of the box" => if you use the latest drivers you should have no problem.
